🤔 Did you know a retirement account can be used for investing in real-estate and not just the stock market?
I recently invested in an apartment complex using a Self-Directed IRA with Scott Maurer from Advanta IRA. It’s been a fantastic way to diversify my investments and add real estate to my retirement strategy. 🏢✨
What I love about Advanta IRA. They charge a flat fee. As a doctor working in California I have arranged my business so I am a 1099 employee because I enjoy managing my own investments and have found diversification is key! 🚀
I recently interviewed Scott, so I could bring some valuable knowledge to our LinkedIn family.
A few things I’ve learned about this method of investment:
· You need a specialized IRA custodian (not your typical brokerage) to make these investments possible.
· All returns and profits go directly back into your IRA, helping your retirement grow in a tax-advantageous way, thus keeping the tax benefits that come with an IRA.
· It can take up to a few weeks to get your capital transferred or rolled over. You can proactively fund your self-directed IRA even if you have not identified your real estate investment.
With a Self-Directed IRA, we get to take the reins and explore investment options that aren’t usually available through traditional retirement accounts.
